[As I watched a movie about Palestine, an idea struck me. I have never thought of it before. When I used to watch the news about Palestinians I would always cry and feel sorry for these people. I have always felt very lucky to not be in their place. I used to feel so guilty about enjoying my life while they suffered theirs.
But not anymore… these people do not deserve our pity, they deserve our utmost “respect”. They are living for a reason, a reason that everyone acknowledges to be a noble one. They have a mission, the mission of fighting for their land. They are strong, hopeful people who are united by their “actions” not “sayings”.
We are the ones who deserve pity, because we are weak and scared. Our lives are so perfect and fragile that we worry about the tiniest details in them. We are not ready for any change that may occur in our lives. We want things to be consistent, and we fool ourselves into believing that the will be.
It’s all about having a truly strong belief and living to support that belief whatever the price is. Palestinians share one belief “that Palestine belongs to them” and they sacrificetheir lives to support that belief. For this reason, and many others, Palestinians do not deserve our pity, they deserve our respect ]
